Productivity lesson from Star Wars

Productivity lesson from Star Wars

Today’s video is based on one of Yoda lessons in the Star Wars episode Empire strikes back. I’ve heard this lesson from my mentor a while ago now, and have repeatedly shared it with my private clients.

I now watched Star Wars for the first time, thanks to one of my children becoming a huge fan of Star Wars just a few weeks ago. I was excited to see that it is one of Yoda’s most famous and quoted lessons.

In this video I share with you exactly how to apply it in your everyday life to become more productive. Watch it now and enjoy!

In the comments below, please share any a-ha! moments you’ve got from the video above and what came out when you applied it to your situation!

Love it! I grew up with Star Wars, but I've never really noticed the deeper meaning in this quote! Can't wait to use it from now on every time I'll think "I'll try" and hear Yoda's voice in my head to remind me!

  2. Woo-hoo!! This is awesome Janine!!

And if you have any recommendations for the newly formed Star Wars fans, please share with me! Cheers, Olga

A very empowering thought! ‘Try’ is such an emotionally loaded word. It suggests inadequacy and expectation of failure. It also suggests that you are doing something because you feel obligued to; pressured from the outside, rather than doing it because of your own choice. Not just a lack of committment, but something worse, a rejection of the very thing you are ‘trying’.

    • Hi Ally, thanks for stopping by! So glad this blog post resonated with you!! I really like how you desribe the word “try”: inadequcy, expectation of failure, feeling obligied, pressure from outside, rejection of the positive outcome. Exactly!!! Love it. Thank you.
