Why you do what you do?

simon sinek videoLet me ask you this one question: why you do what you do? Why do you get out of bed in the morning? Why should anyone care?

I hear it often from scientists that they get out of bed in the morning and come to work… by default; because there are things on their to-do list. How sad that is! Maybe they did start their journey in science because of their desire for knowledge and their love for science. But somehow with time it fizzled away with all those numerous – often meaningless – things we are required to do as part of our jobs.

Well, it is time now to ask yourself this question again: why you do what you do, find the answer and let it inspire you AND others to do and support the work you do! Watch this video by Simon Sinek where he explains what differentiates the greatest and most inspiring leaders and organisations on this planet. And the good thing is that you can totally take it on board right now and become more productive and successful as the result of it! Enjoy!

Below please share your mission: what you believe in and why you do what you do! I will share mine too 🙂

  1. Thanks for you post! I love this video! Such a great reminder to get focused on the "why" knowing the how will come. I have had to make a point to stay away from my to-do list until I completed my supportive morning rituals. I feel so much better when I get grounded and then go out into the world 🙂 Thanks again for you inspiration and affirmation!

  2. Cathy says:

Work and research: I believe in trying to understand the world – in my case, how humans communicate, how they behave towards each other, and ultimately how we can have a better effect on each other, internationally. (I am researching how we talk about international aid, and I also work in international aid.)
Life: I mainly, though, believe in my family, especially my daughter, who is my top priority, and the reason I do most things. I believe in outdoor sports in mountains and living in the wild, when I can, because I love the natural world.

  3. You are so welcome Tricia! I find we are often so abscessed with HOW we don't even give ourselves a chance to think through the WHAT and WHY.

During the past week I had an amazing experience, when I was coaching my client through this concept, and she spelled out her WHAT and WHY, and right at the end of the call she said: I've just got an e-mail!! It is so spooky, but it contains the exact information I needed". She manifested within minutes something she stated she needed. SPOOKY! (Or miraculous :-))
